Overview

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver responsible for patient care in the Heart & Vascular Institute. The role involves assisting physicians with invasive cardiology and radiology procedures, providing patient support, and ensuring safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association, within 30 days), ACLS (American Heart Association, within 1 year), ARRT Registered in Radiography, Illinois Radiologic Technologist License.
• Education: Certificate of Completion or Associate's Degree.
• Work Experience: Relevant clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer contrast material as per physician’s request, recognizing and responding to allergic reactions.
• Assist with inventory and supplies management.
• Verify patient identity and documentation accuracy.
• Gather clinical information related to labs and pathology.
• Train and assist new staff as needed.
• Document procedures accurately and completely.
• Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Perform all essential radiologic functions, including on-call duties and variable shifts.
• Maintain sterile fields during procedures.
• Administer or withhold contrast treatments appropriately.
• Assess patients for allergies.
• Prepare supplies for procedures.
• Perform cardiac catheterizations, structural heart procedures, and hybrid peripheral vascular work, utilizing adjunctive tools as needed.
