Radiologic Technologist - FULL TIME - 40 Hours - Afternoons

General Summary

Up to $7,500 Sign-On Bonus

Full Time Benefit Eligible

Shift: FT 40 hours per week, afternoon shift 3pm-11:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation

Operates radiographic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic radiographs and images. Performs diagnostic procedures according to established standards and radiation safety practices. Works directly with patients, radiologists, physicians, and fellow associates. Follows established rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Genesys Regional Medical Center. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care to the age group(s) served.

Responsibilities:

  1. Delivers quality patient care, including universal precautions, sterile technique, patient confidentiality, and medical ethics.
  2. Produces quality radiographs by selecting appropriate technical factors, positioning patients correctly, selecting contrast media, and manipulating equipment properly. Includes portable radiographs in various hospital units.
  3. Represents the hospital positively both in and outside the work area, practicing good guest relations.
  4. Ensures proper patient identification and accurate labeling of radiographs, entering procedures into hospital systems.
  5. Maintains radiation protection standards to minimize patient exposure, using shielding and protection devices.
  6. Keeps current on new developments through journals, educational programs, and seminars.
  7. Assists in training radiology students and new employees.
  8. Acts as a technical resource for residents and radiologists.
  9. Exercises independent judgment in absence of management, reporting equipment issues.
  10. Keeps work areas and equipment clean and stocked.
  11. Assists with clerical duties and patient transportation when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good guest relations, communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and dependability.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in duties.
  • Physical and mental capability to perform job duties.
  • Neat appearance and adherence to dress code.

Essential Functions:

  • Mobility, manual dexterity, patient assistance, equipment movement.
  • Effective communication, planning, problem-solving, teaching, and operating hospital systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Lifting, supporting, and transferring patients and supplies.
  • Standing and walking most of the day.
  • Exposure to electrical, radiant energy, and communicable diseases.

Orientation Requirements:

Participation in new employee and department orientations.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma and completion of an accredited 2-year radiology program. Experience preferred but not required.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA within 90 days.
  • ARRT Radiography credential within 180 days or equivalent certification, with renewal required.
