Danbury Hospital is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographs with a strong emphasis on patient safety and high-quality imaging. You will explain procedures, obtain relevant history, and ensure ALARA practices are followed.

You will supervise and mentor staff and students, collaborate with the Radiology team, and assist with invasive procedures while maintaining excellent patient care in a busy clinical environment.

Formación

  • Minimum high school diploma; CT Radiographer license required.
  • ARRT certification required.
  • Ongoing continuing education and professional development as part of licensure.

Responsabilidades

  • Greets patient and verifies identity; ensures exam is appropriate.
  • Reviews requisition, obtains patient history, explains procedures.
  • Maintains ALARA standards and patient comfort during exams.
  • Produces diagnostic-quality radiographs for radiologist interpretation.
  • Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures and patient care coordination.
  • Leads and mentors staff; trains students and ancillary personnel.

Summary

Performs diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety. Provides clinical instruction to prospective radiologic technologist students and evaluates students ability to perform procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Greets patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification.
  • Reviews patient script & Cerner requisition. Ensures appropriate exam is being performed. Acquires history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed. Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test.
  • Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety and comfort of the patient. Interacts professionally with patient and family.
  • Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards.
  • Produces and reviews high quality xrays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures.
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors staff members.
  • Works with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
  • Assists with training students and ancillary personnel.
  • Attends annual hospital review (compliance) and departmental in-services and meetings as scheduled.
  • Practices medicine and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • May provide supervision and clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill the duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility while maintaining excellent patient care.
  • May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures, and assures student attains objectives in each competency. May perform periodic written evaluation of students.
  • Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s).
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Skills Experience

Requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma and minimum of one year job-

Related Experience

Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license. Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development.

Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.

License: State of Connecticut Radiographer License

Certification: ARRT Certification

Other Information

Prefer Ct scan experience.

Working Conditions

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
