Job summary

UNC Health's UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiology procedures, prepare contrast media, and assist radiologists in complex studies while ensuring patient safety and quality images.

The role requires ARRT certification or eligibility, an associate degree in Radiologic Sciences, BLS, and the ability to work onsite Monday to Friday; we offer 40-hour work weeks and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program. If degree is not yet complete, candidates may be selected contingent on completing a degree program within 90 days of hire.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible and register within one year from date of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• No prior experience required.
• Knowledgeable of radiation protection and safety, infection control, TB and standard precautions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of General Diagnostic Radiology and adheres to Departmental Protocols and Policies; assists in completing radiographic procedures.
• Verifies patient demographics and examination requests; saves and transmits QA-ed images to PACS; documents in RIS.
• Conducts routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire diagnostic data.
• Performs imaging with timely, high-quality results and analyzes orders; reviews schedule and patient status.
• Uses RIS, PACS and HIS to access information and document procedure status; ensures information arrives in PACS.
• Verifies patient identity and safety, assesses condition, and responds to emergencies; ensures patient safety.
