Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) in South Carolina is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic exams and operate portable x-ray devices. You will also conduct CMA duties such as interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and preparing exam rooms.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program, ARRT registration within 6 months, and SC licensure. BLS is required; ACLS is preferred.

Qualifications

  • ARRT registration within 6 months of hire and SC licensure required.
  • Zero to two years of modality-specific experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred.
  • Ability to lift and transport patients and maintain clean work areas.

  • Perform radiographic examinations using x-ray equipment.

  • Check and restock supplies; maintain orderly work area.
  • Interviews patients, records vital signs, and inputs data.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and assist CMA duties as needed.

Job Description

Perform medical exams using X-rays on patients to create images of specific parts of the body. The images are then interpreted by a doctor for diagnosis and monitoring of disease.

Duties include:

  • Ability to utilize portable x-ray equipment
  • Performs radiographic examinations.
  • Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
  • Maintains x-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventive maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area, requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
  • Performs other miscellaneous and related duties as required including lifting and transporting patients.

This position will also have Certified Medical Assistant duties:

Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

Basic computer skills required. Annual competencies are required to be maintained. Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and ability to make accurate physical observation of patients. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology. Experience: Zero to two years of modality specific work experience. Registration/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of hire. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current

Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).

Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
