Job summary

LPC in Portland, OR, is seeking a Radiograph Technician to produce radiographs to PCC specifications for castings. You will operate x-ray equipment, prepare films, and ensure imaging meets customer and internal standards in a heavy manufacturing environment.

• Develops best practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques when needed.
• Visually inspects castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris etc.

Job Description

MISSION:

To produce radiographs to customer and PCC specifications for evaluation of castings.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Setup

1. Checks routing or requests to determine x-ray needs on parts.
2. Reviews Technique Cards to determine setup requirements, including x-ray techniques, part positions and Film/IP requirements based on Techniques Cards.
3. Sets up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards.
4. Inspect condition and maintain Film/IP and cassettes. Follow proper handling techniques.
5. Sets up castings on tables in x-ray machines including fixturing, placement of Film/IP's, and DICOM tag identification and penetrameters on Film/IP; sets exposure parameters.
6. Determines priority of radiographs to be taken.
7. Develops best practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques when needed.
8. Visually inspects castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris etc.

2. X-Ray Operation

1. Operates x-ray machine control panels and equipment to take multiple views of castings, adjusting radiographic variables such as tube height, voltage and exposure times within customer specifications.
2. Monitor, Maintain, and generate exposures for System Qualifications on X-ray equipment per customer and PCC specifications.
3. Regularly conducts more than one radiographic examination concurrently, and is expected to be able to operate all machines.
4. Removes Film/IP from casting for image processing, while maintaining proper Film/IP handling techniques .
5. After image processing, checks samples of radiographs on each casting for inner fearing Artifacts, clarity, coverage, pixel value and sensitivity; makes changes within customer and PCC specifications; records any changes made; reshoots exposure when needed.
