Job summary

Holtec is seeking a Radiochemistry Technician in Covert, MI (on-site) to support the Station Sciences organization. The role involves sampling and analyzing plant systems, maintaining chemistry within limits, calibrating instruments, and contributing to Emergency Response operations.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in chemistry or related field and has 3 years of experience with 1 year of related technical training, plus proficiency with standard computer software.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemistry or related technical field; Naval Nuclear Power School or equivalent preferred.
• 3 years of working experience in the specialty with at least 1 year of related technical training.
• Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations.
• High degree of manual dexterity and ability.
• Proficiency with current computer business applications.

Responsibilities

• Provides corrosion control.
• Performs instrument calibration and operation; inputs chemistry data into data management system.
• Maintains chemistry levels within established limits.
• Performs data reviews and trending.
• Communicates to chemistry management regarding issues affecting plant chemistry.
• Responds to out-of-specification chemistry; participates in the Emergency Response Organization.

Career Opportunities: Radiochemistry Technician (1627)

The Radiochemistry Technician supports the Station Sciences organization by performing radiochemistry and laboratory activities that help ensure safe and reliable plant operation. The technician is responsible for sampling and analyzing plant systems and diesel fuel, maintaining chemistry parameters within established limits, calibrating and operating laboratory instruments, monitoring chemistry trends, and responding to off-normal conditions. The position also supports corrosion control efforts, complies with laboratory quality and chemical control programs, and serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

Location: Covert, MI (on-site)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides corrosion control.
• Complies with laboratory quality control requirements. Performs instrument calibration and operation. Responds to off-normal conditions. Inputs chemistry data into data management system.
• Maintain chemistry levels within established limits and below action levels.
• Performs data reviews and trending.
• Communicates to chemistry management in a timely manner regarding any issue affecting plant chemistry. Complies with the Chemical Control Program.
• Responds to out-of-specification chemistry. Understands adverse chemistry effects on equipment performance. Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

Requirements:

• B.S. Degree in chemistry or a related technical degree, Naval Nuclear Power School, Engineering Laboratory Technician School, or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years of working experience in their specialty of which 1 year should be related technical training.
• Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations.
• High degree of manual dexterity and ability.
• Proficiency with current computer business applications.
