Job summary

Arrow McLaren, based in Indianapolis, seeks a Radio Engineer to maximize the team’s operational efficiency. You will own all RF and VoIP equipment, from initial configuration to performance optimization, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

The role requires hands‑on work with analog radios, VoIP hardware, and antenna systems in a fast‑paced motorsport environment. This position supports the IndyCar team on site at the McLaren Racing Center.

Qualifications

  • Experience with analog VHF or UHF radios.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with VoIP hardware.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on work, including wiring loom installation and cable termination.
  • Understanding of RF antenna theory.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and thrive in a high‑pressure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Configuration and maintenance of Voice-over-IP intercom.
  • Programming voice radios, specifically in the UHF analog spectrum.
  • Car radio equipment installation.
  • Timing stand radio hardware configuration.
  • Ancillary component maintenance – headsets, cabling, driver helmet microphone, earpieces, etc.
  • Antenna performance monitoring and optimization.

Purpose of the Role:

The role of the Radio Engineer is to maximize the operational efficiency of the Arrow McLaren team. Seamless voice communication is critical for the performance of our IndyCar Team. The radio engineer is responsible for all RF and VoIP equipment and operation. This includes initial configuration, performance optimization, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Configuration and maintenance of Voice-over-IP intercom
