Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking an experienced RF engineer to design, develop, test, and integrate high-performance analog and mixed-signal RF devices and subsystems in support of defense programs. You will analyze RF requirements, perform trade studies, and contribute to cost and schedule. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, documenting specifications, and supporting supplier evaluations while ensuring program objectives are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in RF circuit design for receivers and transmitters, from components to systems.
  • Understanding trade-offs between Noise Figure and Intermod performance and their effect on Dynamic Range.
  • Knowledge of multilayer PCB design and EMI/EMC effects on RF performance.

Responsibilities

  • Involved with design, build, and test of analog and mixed-signal RF devices (amplifiers, filters, ADCs).
  • Contribute to RF requirements analysis, definition, and management.
  • Conduct performance analysis (e.g., INR, Noise Figure, Pass Band), interface analysis, and verification planning.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers; provide technical guidance.
  • Review customer specifications and develop cost-aware designs.
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.
  • Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier components and services for programs.
  • Support design-to-cost and design-for-manufacture requirements.
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.
  • Communicate with manufacturing, supply chain, and customers.

Job Summary
Job Responsibilities
  • Involved with design, build, and test of cutting-edge analog and mixed-signal devices such as amplifiers, filters, and ADCs. Contribute to RF requirements analysis, definition, and management. Conduct functional analysis, performance analysis (e.g. Instantaneous Dynamic Range, Noise Figure, Pass Band Response, etc.), interface analysis, and definition for the design, integration, and verification of RF components, equipment, and systems.
  • Responsible for driving technology and completion of activity on time and budget
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems
  • Ability to complete a technical project independently
  • Mentor and coach other engineers.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
  • Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services
  • Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
  • Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
  • Mentor and coach less-experienced engineers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
  • Expected to have knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines
  • Must be proficient in RF circuit design for both Receivers and Transmitters, from individual component (Amplifiers, Filters, Mixers, Synthesizers, ADC's and DACs) to complete system integration
  • Understanding of the trade offs between Noise Figure and Intermod performance and their effect on Instantaneous and Spur Free Dynamic Range.
  • Knowledge and experience with multilayer PCB design and the effects of electromagnetic radiation, conducted and radiated coupling and their effects on RF performance
