Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a senior professional to lead the radiation safety program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while safeguarding patients and staff. The role involves directing safety activities, training staff, and coordinating emergency response and documentation.

The position requires a strong background in health physics and regulatory knowledge, with leadership experience and advanced certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant health/medical physics field required.
• At least 5 years managing a radiation safety program with regulatory compliance.
• At least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Preferred: advanced degree in Health Physics or Medical Physics.
• Certifications such as ABHP, ABR, or Nuclear Medical Physics are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hiring decisions, coaching, performance management and budgeting for the team.
• Manage the AHN radiation safety program and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Ensure safe use of ionizing radiation for patients, staff and visitors.
• Support compliance with PA DEP, TJC, FDA, CMS and DOH regulations.
• Cover Radiation Safety Officer duties in the absence of the RSO.
• Direct patient care activities involving radioactive materials.
• Lead radiation emergency response and incident analysis.
• Provide guidance to Radiation Physics support staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
