Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist in Peoria, IL. You will provide medical physics support across EBRT, brachytherapy, SRS and SBRT, while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality assurance.

Leadership in radiation safety and department policy development is expected, with opportunities for education and program development. Candidates must hold ABR certification and IEMA licensure, plus a Master’s or PhD in Physics or related field; clinical experience is

Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or related field required.
Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABR) required.
Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA) required.
Experience in medical physics or clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive medical physics support for external beam therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (IEMA, NRC, ACR, DNV).
Oversee acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and QA programs.
Lead departmental radiation safety, shielding, and radioactive material inventory.
Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists for treatment planning.
Support staff education, orientation, and clinical project development.
Participate in quality improvement, safety meetings, and strategic planning.
