Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our Peoria, Illinois team. This role provides comprehensive physics support for external beam, brachytherapy, SRS and SBRT, working in a physician-partnered environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s or PhD in Physics, be ABR-certified and licensed (IEMA). This role includes leadership in radiation safety, QA, and policy development, with opportunities to contribute to program development and innovation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or related field.
• ABR certification required.
• IEMA licensure required for Radiation Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical physics support for radiation oncology services including external beam therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (IEMA, NRC, ACR, DNV).
• Oversee equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and QA programs.
• Develop and maintain departmental physics policies and QA procedures.
• Serve as Department Radiation Safety Officer and lead radiation safety initiatives.
• Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.

Education

Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or related field

Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABR)

Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA)
