Job summary

Carle Health in Peoria, IL is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our team. You will provide comprehensive medical physics support for external beam, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT, and collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.

The role includes overseeing QA and commissioning, developing physics policies, serving as Radiation Safety Officer, and guiding safety and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or related field.
• ABR certification is required.
• IEMA licensure is required.
• Experience in medical physics or a related clinical setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical physics support for external beam, brachytherapy, SRS and SBRT.
• Oversee equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and ongoing QA.
• Develop, implement and maintain departmental physics policies, procedures and QA programs.
• Serve as Department Radiation Safety Officer and lead radiation safety initiatives.
• Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, dosimetrists and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, safety meetings and strategic planning.
• Assist with staff education and training; support clinical projects and program development.

Education

Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or related field

Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABR) – required

Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA) – required
