Job summary

Carle Health in Peoria, IL seeks a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our dedicated team. You will provide comprehensive medical physics support for external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT, and serve as the Department Radiation Safety Officer.

Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure safe, accurate treatment planning and delivery while leading QA programs and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or a related field is required.
• ABR Certification (Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics) is required.
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA) is required.
• Experience in medical physics or a related clinical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical physics support for radiation oncology services including external beam, brachytherapy, SRS and SBRT.
• Oversee QA programs, equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration and ongoing quality assurance.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and therapists to ensure optimal treatment planning and delivery.
• Lead radiation safety initiatives, shielding requirements and radioactive material inventory management.
• Participate in education and training for staff and students.
• Support departmental quality improvement initiatives and strategic planning.

Education
