Job summary

Carle Health in Peoria, IL seeks a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to provide comprehensive medical physics support across external beam therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT, collaborating with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or a related field.
• ABR certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics is required.
• IEMA Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy is required.
• Experience in medical physics or a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive medical physics support for external beam therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• Oversees equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and QA programs.
• Develops and maintains departmental physics policies and QA procedures.
• Serves as Department Radiation Safety Officer and leads radiation safety initiatives.
• Collaborates with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and radiation safety meetings.
• Assists with staff education, orientation, and technical instruction for staff and students.
• Offers opportunities to support clinical projects and program development.
