Job summary

Carle Health in Peoria, IL, seeks a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to provide comprehensive medical physics support across external beam therapy, brachytherapy, SRS and SBRT. You will join a collaborative team of radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure safe, precise treatment planning and delivery.

The role requires ABR certification and an IEMA license, with leadership in radiation safety and QA.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or related field.
• ABR Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABR) – required
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA) – required
• Experience in medical physics or a related clinical setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical physics support for external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• Support a highly collaborative, physician-partnered practice environment.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements (IEMA, NRC, ACR, DNV).
• Oversee equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and ongoing QA.
• Develop, implement, and maintain departmental physics policies, procedures, and QA programs.
• Serve as Department Radiation Safety Officer.
• Provide leadership in radiation safety, shielding, and radioactive material inventory management.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure optimal treatment planning and delivery.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, radiation safety meetings, and strategic planning.
• Assist with education, orientation, and technical instruction for staff and students.
