Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our team in Peoria, Illinois. You will provide comprehensive medical physics support for external beam therapy, brachytherapy, SRS and SBRT, working in a physician-partnered environment.

The role requires ABR certification and licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (IEMA). You will oversee QA programs, safety, and program development while collaborating with oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Physics or related field.
• ABR Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics required.
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical physics support for radiation oncology services, including external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, SRS and SBRT.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements (IEMA, NRC, ACR, and DNV).
• Oversee equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and ongoing quality assurance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain departmental physics policies, procedures, and QA programs.
• Serve as Department Radiation Safety Officer.
• Provide leadership in radiation safety, shielding requirements, and radioactive material inventory management.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure optimal treatment planning and delivery.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, radiation safety meetings, and strategic planning.
• Assist with education, orientation, and technical instruction for staff and students.
