Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our Peoria team, offering comprehensive medical physics support across external beam, brachytherapy, and advanced therapies. You will collaborate with oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.

The role requires ABR certification and IEMA licensure, with leadership responsibilities as Radiation Safety Officer and involvement in QA, safety, and program development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or a related field.
• ABR Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics – required
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA) – required
• Experience in medical physics or a related clinical setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical physics support for external beam, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• Oversee QA, acceptance testing, calibration, and ongoing quality assurance.
• Develop and maintain departmental physics policies and procedures.
• Serve as the Department Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
• Lead radiation safety, shielding requirements, and radioactive material inventory management.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists on planning and delivery.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, safety meetings, and strategic planning.
• Assist with staff education and orientation in the department.
• Support clinical projects and program development in radiation oncology.
• Partial remote work may be considered for candidates within driving distance of Peoria.
