Job summary

9 Mothers Corporation is seeking a Radar Engineer to own the radar sensing layer of our counter-sUAS platform. You will integrate and tune radars from multiple vendors, process radar data in software, and feed detections into our edge AI stack.

You will work at the intersection of RF engineering, embedded software, and systems integration in a fast-moving defense startup. You will characterize sensors, tune configurations for small, fast, low‑RCS targets, and validate performance on range.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on radar experience in radar systems engineering or similar.
• Experience integrating radars into larger systems and fielded use.
• Proven ability to tune radar configurations to maximize detection and minimize false alarms in clutter.
• Strong radar fundamentals: range equation, RCS, Doppler, CFAR, clutter, tracking.
• Proficient in C++ and Python for production-grade radar data ingestion/processing on Linux.
• Troubleshooting across RF hardware, networking, timing, and software layers.
• Independent, ownership-driven work style suitable for startup environments.
• ITAR: U.S. citizen, export-controlled information access and background check.

Responsibilities

• Characterize radar sensors on bench/range to establish baselines for tuning.
• Integrate multiple radar models into the counter-sUAS platform and align with vendor interfaces.
• Develop software to ingest, process, and publish radar detections and tracks with low latency.
• Tune waveform, detection thresholds, CFAR, clutter maps, and tracking to maximize PD/Minimize FAs.
• Fuse radar tracks with acoustic and EO/IR data to cue visual tracking and effects.
• Create test plans including simulation and live-range testing with UAV pilots.
