Job summary

Austin Sensing Company is seeking a Digital Signal Processing Engineer to develop algorithms for radar, acoustic, and RF sensors used in defense and public safety applications. You will design processing pipelines, implement real-time solutions, and validate performance with data from field tests.

Join a cross-disciplinary team of RF, FPGA, embedded, and software engineers to advance sensing capabilities while balancing compute, memory, and latency constraints on production hardware.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience developing and implementing DSP algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms for filtering, spectral analysis, detection, parameter estimation, and signal classification.
  • Design processing pipelines for radar, acoustic, and RF data, accounting for sensor characteristics and operating conditions.
  • Build simulations and analysis tools to evaluate algorithms under noise, interference, and other sources of distortion.
  • Analyze recorded sensor data to identify performance limitations and guide improvements.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for real-time operation within compute, memory, power, and latency constraints.
  • Work with FPGA and embedded systems engineers to move algorithms onto production hardware.
  • Evaluate sampling rates, numerical precision, fixed-point representations, and their effects on performance.
  • Develop calibration and compensation methods for hardware variations and measurement errors.
  • Define measurable performance criteria and build repeatable tests to compare algorithm revisions.
