Job Summary

This technician operates x-ray equipment in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient population.

Job Description

  • Arrange patients for radiological exams
  • Perform diagnostic radiological exams for use in diagnosis of disease
  • Prevent patients from unnecessary radiation exposure
  • Perform portable X-ray exams
  • Develop exposed X-ray files
  • Perform administrative duties as needed for patient instructions, film-filing, and maintenance of records

Job Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of approved Radiologic Technical program
  • BXMO license for X-ray technicians
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed/registered with the appropriate state agency
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Follow principles of medical ethics for medical assistants
  • Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety
  • Assist patients as needed or as directed by supervisory staff
  • Perform medical assistant and radiological procedures
  • Assist providers with patients, including preparing patients and examination rooms, taking initial medical history, vital signs, and explaining procedures
  • Assist provider in all special procedures, including minor surgery
  • Perform X-rays as directed by the provider
  • Provide instructions to patients as instructed by the provider
  • Maintain medical records according to procedures and forms
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality
  • Keep rooms stocked with supplies, clean and sterilize instruments as required
  • Perform wound cleaning, lab drawing, electrocardiograms, dressings, and splints as directed
  • Assist in lab procedures under supervision and training
  • Handle and store medications properly
  • Knowledge of radiologic equipment, x-ray principles, sterile procedures, safety standards, and photographic techniques
  • Understand patient growth and development, and provide age-appropriate care
  • Calibrate and adjust x-ray equipment safely
  • Understand and enforce safety procedures
  • Physically manipulate patients safely
  • Make administrative and procedural decisions
  • Maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients and staff

Hours and Working Conditions

Located in Orlando, FL. Hours may vary based on surgical schedule. Hazards include contact with communicable diseases and electrical equipment. PPE provided as needed.
