Job summary

d-Matrix is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead rack-scale mechanical design for our AI inference hardware platform. You will own mechanical systems from concept through mass production, collaborating with thermal, electrical, software, and systems teams.

You will apply OCP specifications, design chassis and sheet metal, manage suppliers and ODMs, and drive reliability testing, 3D modeling, FEA, and tolerance analysis to deliver scalable hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design, simulation, and validation for IT hardware.
• Hands-on experience with OCP specifications and rack-scale system design.
• Strong background in chassis mechanical design and DFm at high volume.
• Experience with shock and vibration testing and reliability analysis.
• Proven track record of taking designs from concept to mass production (NPI to MP).
• Experience collaborating with suppliers, ODMs, CMs, and JDMs on hardware development.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and FEA; understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for rack-scale hardware in compliance with OCP specs.
• Design and validate chassis, sheet metal enclosures, cooling, and high-power connections.
• Own lifecycle from design and validation through NPI to mass production.
• Conduct reliability testing and lead 3D modeling, FEA, and tolerance analysis.
• Partner with suppliers, ODMs, CMs, and JDMs to develop components and support production ramp.
• Debug and resolve quality issues during NPI and production, driving root-cause analysis.
• Review and sign off on integration interfaces and ensure compatibility with CDU/water connections.
• Develop specs and test procedures for reliability and performance; mentor engineers.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve mechanical/thermal performance and quality.
