Job summary

General Matter, Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer to own rack power distribution within high-density compute facilities. You will define power delivery from facility tap-off to server PSUs, select PDUs, busbars, and power shelves, and ensure rack-level reliability.

The role is hands-on design, bridging facility electrical and IT hardware teams, with opportunities to influence national-scale energy projects. In-person required in Los Angeles area.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years electrical design experience, including rack-level power distribution for data center or hyperscale deployments.
• Direct experience with rack PDUs, in-rack busbars, power shelves, or server power delivery, not just facility-level MEP design.
• Strong command of A/B redundancy, phase balancing, branch circuit sizing, inrush, and PSU redundancy behavior.
• Experience taking rack power designs through testing, integration, or commissioning.
• Proficiency producing rack elevations, load schedules, and one-line diagrams (AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or similar).
• Must be a U.S. person (export control requirement) and able to obtain/maintain U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the rack power architecture end to end from tap-off to server PSUs.
• Define rack power topologies for high-density AI/GPU deployments (50-130+ kW per rack) including 48V/54V busbar and liquid-cooled options.
• Set redundancy strategy at the rack level and validate failure-mode loading under single-feed operation.
• Lead rack power validation through lab testing, factory integration, and on-site commissioning.
• Coordinate with OEMs/vendors on design reviews and submittals.
