Job summary

General Matter is hiring an Electrical Engineer to own rack power distribution inside the rack for its high-density enrichment and computing infrastructure. You will select PDUs, power shelves, and busbars, lay out outlets and phases, and ensure racks stay up during feed outages.

You will design for high-density AI/GPU and HPC workloads, validate through testing, and collaborate with OEMs, IT teams, and facilities to resolve interface issues. The role requires a U.S.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of electrical design experience, with at least 3 years designing power distribution at the rack/server level for data center or hyperscale deployments.
• Direct design experience with rack PDUs, in-rack busbars, power shelves, or server power delivery, not just facility-level MEP design.
• Strong command of A/B redundancy, phase balancing, branch circuit sizing, inrush, and PSU redundancy behavior.
• Experience taking rack power designs through testing, integration, or commissioning.
• Proficiency producing rack elevations, load schedules, and one-line diagrams (AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or similar).
• Must be a U.S. person (export control requirement) and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the rack power architecture end to end, from busway tap-off through rack PDUs, in-rack busbars, to server PSUs.
• Define rack power topologies for high-density AI/GPU and HPC deployments (50-130+ kW per rack), including 48V/54V busbar and liquid-cooled configurations.
• Set redundancy strategy at the rack level and verify failure-mode loading.
• Coordinate with OEMs/vendors on design reviews and submittals.
• Lead rack power validation through labs, integration, and on-site commissioning, and drive root-cause for power issues.
• Integrate rack power monitoring with DCIM.
