Job summary

United Tote, backed by Churchill Downs Incorporated, seeks a Tote Technician to perform data entry, verification, and maintenance across racetrack and corporate environments in Aurora, CO. Responsibilities include preparing reports, stocking and shipping parts, and training new staff while ensuring equipment reliability for major racing events.

The role requires knowledge of pari‑mutuel wagering, hardware configurations, and the ability to interact professionally with staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Line technician experience and electrical or computer experience preferred.
  • Must understand pari-mutuel wagering and United Tote’s role at the racetrack.
  • Familiarity with Tote room hardware configurations (modems, multiplexers, consoles, printers).

Responsibilities

  • Tote system data entry and verification.
  • Prepare reports/paperwork for racetrack or corporate office.
  • Assist in shipping, loading or unloading equipment and supplies.
  • Label, pack, ship and reorder spare parts.
  • Assist in training new employees and line technicians.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot tote boards and auxiliary displays.
  • Operate racetrack communications equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain United Tote equipment.
  • Install and teardown equipment and boards.
  • Stock ticket paper on betting lines.
  • Unload ticket stock from freight trucks.
  • Perform minor repairs on terminal components and package parts for shipment.
  • Develop wiring and soldering skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
