Job summary

Albany is seeking an experienced engineer to support R&D on composite manufacturing and materials. You will lead initiatives, evaluate technologies, and collaborate on verification, validation, and certification activities for advanced composite structures.

You will mentor teams, drive design and process improvements, and contribute to business development through technical excellence and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in materials, mechanical, civil, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• 2-5 years in aerospace, composites, materials engineering, or related fields preferred.
• Exposure to composite materials, manufacturing processes, or product development.
• Exposure to Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) and related processing methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify and lead initiatives to enable and sustain world class technical competency and proficiency of the R&D organization.
• Identify advanced technologies and applications for potential business development.
• Contribute tactical effort to key programs and establish plans for maturing technologies identified.
• Provide mentoring and technical leadership; assess competencies and develop training plans.
• Collaborate on design verification and validation processes for new products.
• Establish material characterization plans in line with certification expectations (FAA, EASA).
• Design, source, and procure equipment and tooling for new composite parts and processes.
• Lead internal and customer funded projects from idea to completion with small teams.
• Evaluate computational models and experiments to assess performance of processes, materials and structures.
• Develop quotations, cost models, and trade studies for BD activities.
• Participate in customer visits and program meetings on engineering elements.
