Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking an R&D Test Engineer to design, analyze, build and commission high‑current, high‑voltage test equipment for HTS magnets. You will work across manufacturing, R&D, procurement, and SPARC teams to push test campaigns on aggressive schedules and retire risks.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science and 5+ years constructing electrical apparatus, with hands-on experience in electrical analysis tools and high‑power electronics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science required.
• Experience designing or commissioning specialized electrical apparatus or equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, review, procure and build test equipment for energizing superconducting magnets.
• Contribute to ground-up design of electrical testing infrastructure in new facilities.
• Develop test plans with objectives, data needs and instrumentation requirements.
• Understand and maintain documented requirements and risks for the tested system.
• Identify and mitigate safety hazards and produce safety documentation.
• Maintain documentation, schedules and budgets for test campaigns.
