Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC is seeking an R&D Engineer to advance high voltage systems for superconducting magnets. You will design, build, and test equipment, perform analyses, and collaborate across manufacturing, R&D, and SPARC teams to push test campaigns forward.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, 2+ years in R&D or test engineering, and experience with instrumentation plus CAD tools. Occasional travel is expected as projects accelerate toward SPARC/ARC milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of R&D or test engineering experience.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control components.
  • Proficiency with CAD design in Siemens NX.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new high voltage system designs and subsystems for R&D.
  • Design, build, and commission high voltage test equipment for campaigns.
  • Perform structural, electrical, and thermal analyses to support design.
  • Build expertise in testing superconducting magnets under high voltage.
  • Collaborate across manufacturing, R&D, and SPARC teams on tests.
