Qualifications

• Degree in a technical field, technical communication, or journalism; strong writer and interviewer with technical curiosity.
• 2 years of experience in technical writing, engineering, proposal writing, science or trade journalism, or a similar field.
• Strong writing and editing skills with ability to explain complex technical subjects clearly and precisely.
• Ability to analyze technical information, identify gaps, ask clarifying questions, and distinguish relevant details.
• Sound research skills and commitment to factual accuracy, source verification, and well-supported conclusions.
• Experience using AI tools productively with judgment to verify outputs and take responsibility for final work.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work with colleagues and clients.
• Must reside in or relocate to the Columbus, Ohio area.

Responsibilities

• Interview engineers, project managers, and other subject matter experts to understand technical projects and challenges.
• Review and analyze technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, test results, change orders, design notes, and project records.
• Identify and document technical uncertainties, alternatives considered, experimentation, and the technical basis for project decisions.
• Prepare clear, well-supported technical narratives for R&D tax credit studies.
• Edit and refine drafts for accuracy, organization, clarity, and appropriate technical detail.
• Verify technical statements against source documentation and ensure reports are supported by evidence.
• Use AI tools and other resources to improve research and drafting while independently editing content and maintaining standards.
• Conduct client-site visits, primarily in Ohio and the Midwest.
