Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a versatile Reliability Engineer to strengthen our electro-mechanical systems testing. You will design and execute system-level validation plans, perform RCA on field failures, and build automated testing rigs to improve product robustness across our printers and components.

You will translate complex test results into clear, actionable insights, collaborate with R&D design teams, and contribute to risk assessments and CAPA actions from day one.

Qualifications

• Experience with testing complex electromechanical systems.
• Ability to perform data-driven RCA using physics of failure.
• Experience designing system test plans and executing them efficiently in fast-paced product development timelines.
• Proficiency in prototyping and running tests with hardware and software (Python).
• Strong data analysis to distill results into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and manage system, subsystem, and component level validation test plans to ensure products meet design and reliability requirements.
• Perform hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis (RCA) of electromechanical subsystems and field failures, utilizing problem-solving methodologies and a physics-of-failure approach.
• Design, build, and implement automated testing equipment for subsystem characterization and reliability/environmental testing.
• Collaborate with R&D design teams throughout product development to perform risk assessments, manage continuous testing, and contribute to design reviews for reliability from day one.
• Analyze field failure data to identify trends, prioritize investigations based on business value, and develop clear CAPA plans.
