Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Reliability Engineer in Somerville, MA to validate electromechanical systems across products, from LCDs to motion systems. You will design and execute test plans, perform root-cause analysis, and build automated rigs to characterize reliability under environmental stresses.

Collaborate with R&D to drive design reviews and continuous testing, turning data into actionable improvements with Python-based tooling.

Qualifications

  • Experience testing electromechanical sensors, actuators, and components.
  • Ability to develop and execute system test plans within fast-paced timelines.
  • Prototyping and running tests from setup to hardware/software in Python.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and manage system, subsystem, and component level validation test plans.
  • Perform root cause analysis of field failures using physics-based approaches.
  • Design, build, and implement automated testing equipment for subsystem characterization and reliability testing.
  • Collaborate with R&D design teams to influence product reliability from day one.
  • Analyze field failure data to identify trends and develop CAPAs.

We architect effective testing strategies, engineer advanced electro-mechanical test rigs, and extract valuable, actionable insights from the data.Are you a versatile and curious engineer who can see the whole system—from the smallest part to the user's workflow? Can you take complex data and turn it into a clear, compelling story?
