Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a versatile Reliability Engineer to join the R&D Reliability Engineering Team. You will develop validation plans, perform RCA on electromechanical subsystems, and build automated testing rigs to ensure product reliability across the portfolio.

You will work with design teams to assess risk, run continuous testing, and translate test results into actionable improvements, driving robust hardware development from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Well‑versed with complex electromechanical systems and passionate about understanding what it takes to make them work reliably.
• Experience with testing a wide range of sensors, actuators, and mechanical components.
• Experience developing system test plans and executing them efficiently within fast‑paced product development timelines.
• Proficiency prototyping and running tests from experimental setup to hardware and software implementation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and manage system, subsystem, and component level validation test plans to ensure products meet design and reliability requirements.
• Perform hands‑on and data‑driven root cause analysis (RCA) of electromechanical subsystems and field failures, using standard problem‑solving methods and physics of failure.
• Design, build, and implement automated testing equipment for subsystem characterization and reliability/environmental testing.
• Collaborate with R&D design teams to assess risk, manage continuous testing, and influence design reviews for reliability from day one.
• Analyze field failure data to identify trends and develop actionable corrective actions (CAPAs).
• Bonus: familiarity with Linux, SQL for data analysis, field failure analysis experience.
