Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM, seeks a Development and Fabrication Technician at the Tec 3 or Tec 4 level to support electrical design, fabrication, and assembly for R&D experiments. You will prototype, fabricate, and assemble parts from drawings, communicating with scientists and engineers to meet project goals.

At Tec 4, you will contribute to new procedures, propose solutions to project challenges, and work across LANL capabilities in detonation science and national

Qualifications

• Experience in design and manufacturing of parts, fixturing, and electrical assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
• Experience with assembly, testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical circuits.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proven capability to solve problems from design to fabrication in R&D contexts.
• Knowledge of electrical board fabrication and related manufacturing processes.
• CAD/CAM proficiency and ability to support prototypes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, assemble components for experiments with attention to tolerances.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers in planning prototype designs.
• Perform fabrication and assembly independently and in teams.
• Integrate and deploy components into experiments at LANL facilities.
• Develop and refine procedures and protocols at the Tec 4 level.
