Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM seeks a Research & Development Engineer to support metals manufacturing R&D projects. You will work on forging, rolling, heat treating, and related processes, coordinating fabrication activities for experiments and pursuing novel solutions in a science-based prototype environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 4 years of related experience, strong communication, and teamwork, plus the ability to obtain a Q clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of related experience or equivalent.
• Formal training or hands-on experience in forging, drawing, rolling, heat treating, or related metal fabrication.
• Understanding microstructure development during metals manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with metals manufacturing R&D activities and fabricate components.
• Design and fabricate experimental metal parts with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Develop and advance fabrication concepts for engineering alloys.
• Publish technical results and participate in professional societies.
