Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Research Technologist to support mission deliverables in a fast-paced staff shop in Los Alamos, NM. Roles span design, fabrication, assembly, safety oversight, and data collection for national security-related projects.

The position offers progression to RT3 with expanded leadership in subtractive manufacturing, workflow management, and project execution while maintaining high safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required with related experience.
• Experience with CNC, CAM, and CAD for research-focused fabrication.
• Knowledge of material properties and subtractive manufacturing processes.
• Ability to mentor staff and follow strict safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, assemble and test components and assemblies.
• Supervise 1–3 technicians and manage shop safety documentation.
• Evaluate novel solutions for complex experiments and data collection.
• Lead program development and workflow management in a fast-paced staff shop.
