Job summary

Actalent is seeking an R&D Technician in Orange, CA to assemble prototype equipment, build test fixtures, and maintain a compliant R&D lab. You will troubleshoot, calibrate, and support PLC‑driven testing while following electrical and safety standards.

The project requires 3+ years in assembly within an R&D environment, strong mechanical and electrical skills, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs. This is a contract‑to‑hire role with onsite work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years assembling equipment or industrial products in an R&D setting.
• Mechanical assembly with alignment, fastening, and integration.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and configure prototype equipment and systems for product development.
• Build and install custom test fixtures and setups for validation and performance testing.
• Maintain and calibrate test labs and equipment for accuracy and safety.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with equipment and testing facilities.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to guide work.
• Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled systems as needed.
• Document work and test setups clearly.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve products and test setups.
