Job summary

Formlabs is hiring a Hardware R&D Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 (May/June–August). The role is full-time and onsite in Somerville, MA. A portfolio of your engineering work is required to apply.

You will design, build, and validate 3D printing techniques, collaborate across teams, and evaluate performance to drive improvements in hardware and software. Compensation is paid weekly with a 40-hour expectation.

Qualifications

• Portfolio of engineering work/projects is required.
• Experience with experiment design and data analysis.
• Understanding programming and scientific computing (Python or MATLAB).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and innovate 3D printing techniques and printer architectures.
• Collaborate across teams to improve current products, incl. support structure algorithms.
• Evaluate printer performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Design and run experiments; translate results into software/hardware improvements.
• Tackle cross-disciplinary, open-ended engineering challenges.
