Job summary

Formlabs is seeking an R&D Print Process Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will design, build, and test new 3D printing techniques and architectures, collaborating with multiple teams to improve products. You will evaluate printer performance, run experiments, and translate results into hardware or software improvements.

Portfolio required, onsite in Somerville, MA. Internship is full-time with a weekly pay structure.

Qualifications

• Portfolio of your previous engineering work/projects is required.
• Experience with experiment design and data analysis.
• Understand programming and scientific computing, ideally Python or Matlab.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test new 3D printing techniques and printer architectures.
• Collaborate across teams to improve products, e.g., redesign support structure algorithms.
• Evaluate printer performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Plan and run experiments; translate results into software or hardware improvements.
• Tackle complex, open-ended problems across engineering disciplines.
