Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a R&D Print Process Engineering Intern to join our Platform Technology team in Somerville, MA. You will design, build, and validate new 3D printing techniques, collaborating with multiple engineering teams to improve printers and materials.

The role involves experiment design, data analysis, and prototyping, with a focus on advancing printer architectures and galvo control. A portfolio of previous work is required, along with strong coding and CAD skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with experiment design and data analysis.
• A portfolio of your previous engineering work/projects is required.
• Understanding programming and scientific computing, ideally Python or Matlab.
• Familiar with mechanical design, mechatronics, CAD modeling, and hands-on prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and innovate new 3D printing techniques - from developing new printer architectures to validating minute changes in galvo control.
• Work across teams to help implement improvements to current products such as redesigning support structure algorithm based on experiment results.
• Evaluate current printer performance for areas for improvement.
• Design and execute experiments and use results to inform and develop improvements in software or hardware.
