Job summary

Actalent in Woburn, MA seeks an R&D Mechanical Technician to assemble, test, and troubleshoot large prototype assemblies in a modern lab. Read plans, build and modify systems, and support design teams with hands-on feedback for reliability and manufacturability.

Responsibilities include large subsystem assembly, harness routing, and documenting results for traceability. Requires lifting up to 50 lb and ability to obtain security clearance. This is a contract position, onsite in Woburn, MA.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of fielded hardware experience with traceability.
• Experience with large mechanical assemblies.
• Proficient in troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read assembly drawings and design plans.
• Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical assembly, integration, modification, and testing of large assemblies and subassemblies.
• Integrate cable and wire harnesses, routing and box builds for prototype hardware.
• Read and refine work instructions and drawings for clarity and Improvement.
• Support test activities and run routines under engineering guidance.
• Assist with ordering, tracking, receiving, and inventory management.
• Operate forklifts and other equipment up to 20 feet when needed.
• Document test results and changes to maintain traceability.
• Collaborate with engineering to understand design intent and suggest improvements.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical systems in large assemblies and radar-related gear.
• Use hand/power tools safely for prototype builds.
