Job summary

Radiance Technologies seeks an R&D Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and integrate mechanical and thermal systems for circuit card assemblies and related technologies. You will conduct first-principles analyses and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advance microelectronics solutions, build prototypes, perform failure analysis, and produce thorough technical documentation.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 3.2 GPA (out of 4.0) and GPA listed on resume to be considered.
• 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a laboratory, R&D, test, prototyping, or experimental environment (a Master’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering can substitute for the years of experience).
• Self-motivated and able to work well within a research and development team.
• Demonstrated hands‑on prototype experience through events/organizations such as design/build/fly, Formula SAE, CubeSat, or similar.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA NX, or similar.
• Demonstrated proficiency in GD&T, tolerance stackups, and design for manufacturing.
• Demonstrated experience in heat transfer mechanics and thermal systems, preferably in electrical systems.
• Experience with standard electrical laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, and power supplies.
• Experience creating engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs, and fabrication documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, and integration of mechanical and thermal systems for circuit card mechanical assemblies and supporting technologies.
• Conduct analyses of complex problems using first principles.
• Contribute to complex engineering projects, working within a multidisciplinary team.
• Produce technical documentation of assigned projects.
• Hands‑on work in a laboratory setting with a multidisciplinary team to design, build, and test microelectronics solutions and their physical support systems.
• Mechanical and thermal design and analysis, prototype and low‑rate production builds, and failure analysis.
