Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico is seeking highly skilled R&D Mechanical Engineers to join the Hardened Deeply Buried Targets (HDBT) Program of Record.

You will lead mechanical design, perform FEA, and work with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions for critical defense technologies. This role requires DOE Q clearance and onsite work; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 5 years of directly relevant experience.
• Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start.
• Desirable graduate degree and experience with NNSA/weapon systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of mounts and structural components.
• Perform detailed FEA and simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to integrate into larger systems.
• Oversee prototype fabrication, testing, and validation activities.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for stakeholders.
