Job summary

Prysmian Group in Connecticut is seeking an R&D Laboratory Engineer to own product testing in support of development, qualification, and continuous improvement of cable systems. You will design, execute, and analyze tests, maintain calibration schedules, and prepare technical reports for internal teams and external certification bodies (UL, CSA, DLA) while advancing ISO 17025 quality practices.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, 2+ years in a lab environment, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 quality systems.
• 2+ years of hands-on lab calibration and testing in an industrial or R&D lab.
• Experience with flame testing, FTIR, physical, optical and electrical testing.
• Experience in wire & cable or fiber optic industry strongly preferred.
• This role requires US work authorization and is not offering sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyze laboratory tests to support product development, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting testing activities, methods, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records in accordance with quality system requirements.
• Communicate certification testing results to external agencies such as UL, CSA, and DLA.
• Support maintenance and improvement of the ISO 17025 quality management system.
• Lead and participate in DOE and structured problem-solving activities.
• Provide technical guidance on test methods and validation strategies.
• Develop, validate, and document new test methods, procedures, templates, and laboratory best practices.
• Supervise technicians to ensure project objectives are met; contribute to safety and continuous improvement.
