Qualifications

• 10+ years as an electro-mechanical technician working on high-precision micro-assemblies, vacuum systems, or wafer-handling equipment.
• Rapid Prototyping Ownership: manage R&D builds from concept to completion with minimal oversight, including sourcing components and troubleshooting.
• Electrical fundamentals: strong knowledge of basic electrical principles (Ohm’s Law, voltage drop, wire sizing).
• Harness & cable fabrication: build, route, and troubleshoot custom wiring harnesses and power cables with soldering and connector assembly.
• Process documentation: document workflows, redline drawings, and draft SOPs from a technician’s viewpoint.
• Cleanroom readiness: capable of working in cleanrooms with proper ESD protocols.
• Preferred: defense/aerospace or near-infrared/optical experience; cleanroom certification; ISO/QMS familiarity; 5S lean practices; IPC soldering certifications; ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers and test engineers to build and test infrared optical systems for airborne, maritime, and space platforms.
• Fabricate and assemble high-quality electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Develop and implement integration and test fixtures; set up, operate, and report test results.
• Own internal prototyping resources and manage R&D spaces and equipment.
• Travel to external laboratories and test sites as needed.
