Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Imaging team in Hudson, NH. You will lead mechanical development and production transition for next-generation infrared opto-mechanical systems, focusing on precision alignment, cleanliness, and disciplined engineering.

You will mentor junior engineers, lead small teams, manage projects and budgets, and travel to test sites as needed. A BS or MS in mechanical engineering with extensive hands-on experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in mechanical engineering (BSME) or MS with 8+ years in design, hardware, or integrated product development and testing.
• Strong leadership and communication skills in interdisciplinary projects.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and creating high-quality engineering drawings to standards.
• Experience with material selection, sizing, system design, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from concept to real-world use.
• Develop cutting-edge infrared sensors.
• Use first principles physics for decisions.
• Build prototypes, analyze failures, transition to production.
• Support hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
• Contribute to new optical system development and design efforts.
• Define system architecture trades for optimal designs.
• Execute in-depth opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical designs.
• Mentor junior engineers, lead small teams, manage projects and budgets.
• Travel to test sites as needed.
