Job summary

You will drive design with precision, mentor juniors, and manage budgets while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance cooled infrared cameras and assemblies.

The role demands hands-on fabrication experience, strong leadership, and the ability to navigate complex product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• BSME or MS with extensive design experience and leadership.
• Interdisciplinary engineering project experience.
• Proficient in CAD and capable of high-quality drawings.
• Strong material selection, sizing, system design and troubleshooting.
• Experience navigating change control and in-production changes.
• Familiar with thermal/structural analysis and validation.
• Hands-on fabrication skills and electronics integration.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from concept generation to real-world use.
• Develop infrared sensors and opto-mechanical systems.
• Apply first principles in decisions and design.
• Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition to production.
• Support hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
• Contribute to optical system development and design implementation.
• Define system architecture trades for optimal designs.
• Execute opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical designs.
• Mentor juniors, lead small teams, manage budgets and projects.
• Travel to test sites as needed.
