Job summary

Keysight Technologies in California is seeking a highly motivated R&D Hardware Design Engineer to join the high-speed signal integrity team. You will design and validate high-speed serial interfaces, select materials, and define stackups to achieve SI margins and performance.

You will collaborate with global teams to develop PCBA solutions, optimize PCB designs, and ensure testability, quality, and schedule alignment. The role demands strong EE fundamentals and extensive HFSS/Allegro experience.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong understanding of EE principles, signal integrity, RF/microwave theory, and high-frequency circuit design methods.
• 7+ years in hardware/circuit and IC package design, high-frequency modeling/optimization, or high-power density design.
• Experience with HFSS, 3D Layout, and Polar Instruments.
• Familiarity with Allegro.
• Experience with semiconductor, packaging, substrates, and PCB technologies, copper roughness, manufacturing processes, and design methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with global teams to design, optimize, and implement PCB designs and subsystem solutions meeting test, measurement, performance, quality and schedule requirements.
• Model and optimize high-frequency PCB, IC packages, substrates, and high-speed I/O interconnects operating at 100G/200G PAM4 and above.
• Collaborate with system, hardware, board design, and test teams to develop and define hardware requirements and performance to satisfy SI requirements.
• Identify design structures, geometries, and stackups to satisfy insertion loss and return loss and overall SI targets.
• Support next generation materials and stackups/process in PCB fabrication to satisfy SI needs.
• Collaborate with internal and external supply chain manufacturing partners to identify, develop, deploy, and execute new processes/materials.
• Collaborate with development, test & reliability teams in characterization and qualification of PCBA materials.
