Job summary

HRL Laboratories in California is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Mixed Signal Solutions department. You will design and implement hardware for high performance electronic systems, contribute to board-level designs and test plans, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to deliver reliable prototypes.

The role requires hands-on experience with embedded systems, high-speed interfaces (PCIe, SERDES, HDMI), and CAD tools such as Allegro.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related scientific discipline.
• Experience taking complex designs through full hardware development cycle (specification, schematic capture, layout, bring-up, characterization, testing).
• Proficient in system bring-up and debugging of complex embedded systems.
• Skilled in high-speed digital design (PCIe, SERDES, HDMI).
• Proficient with CAD tools—preferably Allegro for design, layout, and simulation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and collaborate with vendors/colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement engineering solutions for electrical and electronic components, analog and digital subsystems, and related algorithms.
• Create board-level design requirements, schematics, and test plans for existing designs including verification and power/thermal analysis.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors throughout hardware design and development cycles.
• Analyze product requirements to propose high-performance, cost-effective solutions.
