Johnson Controls is seeking an Engineering Technician for our Cranston, RI R&D facility. You will assemble and run test setups to verify new product designs, ensuring safety, precision, and reliability. You will also support calibration coordination and documentation, working with engineering teams to meet agency test standards.

Qualifications

• Required Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, or test setup construction.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, test standards, and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, etc.).
• US Citizen and/or permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and modify test setups, fixtures, and prototypes.
• Perform light carpentry, plumbing, and basic fabrication to support test setup construction.
• Interpret engineering drawings, agency test standards, and work request criteria to ensure accurate setup and configuration.
• Coordinate the shipment and receipt of equipment to and from ISO 17025 accredited external calibration vendors.
• Maintain calibration documentation and communicate equipment availability to engineering.
