Job summary

Boxabl Inc. seeks an experienced R&D Engineer to drive innovation from early-stage concept through feasibility, prototyping, and production transfer.

The role emphasizes hypothesis-driven exploration, hands-on experimentation, and translating findings into manufacturable solutions. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in R&D or product development, strong prototyping skills, and SolidWorks proficiency, with familiarity in regulatory and safety standards applicable to the product.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of R&D testing or product development experience.
• Strong hands-on prototyping across multiple fabrication methods.
• Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks) for concept modeling.
• Ability to design experiments, plan tests, collect data, analyze results.
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory codes and product listings (UL/CSA/IEC/ETL).
• Experience with lab testing and working with certification bodies.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and prototype new concepts and technologies.
• Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concept builds.
• Design and run experiments, tests, and simulations.
• Build prototypes using rapid prototyping methods.
• Analyze test data and translate to design recommendations.
• Collaborate with design and production groups to transfer to production.
• Document methodology and IP-related work.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk early.
